Hooks
50 Instagram Reel Hooks for Personal Trainers
Fifty Reel hooks grouped by purpose, with notes on why each pattern works, how to deliver it on camera, and how to test hooks without guessing.
Eight in-depth guides on making short-form content that people actually watch — written for working trainers, coaches and gyms. Free to read, no email required.
This hub is organised by symptom rather than by topic, because "I need to get better at content" is not a problem you can act on and "people swipe away after two seconds" is.
Each track below is two or three guides in the order we would read them. If you would rather see everything by date, the blog index lists all eight chronologically.
// 01
If your videos are not being seen, the problem is almost always the first two seconds, not the topic. Start here.
Hooks
Fifty Reel hooks grouped by purpose, with notes on why each pattern works, how to deliver it on camera, and how to test hooks without guessing.
Filming
Angles, lighting, audio, editing pace and text overlay rules for filming in a real gym — plus three reusable Reel templates and a shot list you can film in twenty minutes.
TikTok
What genuinely differs between TikTok and Instagram for trainers, plus profile setup, a 14-day launch plan, retention mechanics and how views become clients.
// 02
If people watch but nothing happens afterwards, the words underneath the video are doing no work. Fix the caption and the discovery layer.
Captions
The three-part caption structure, six frameworks with full examples, a CTA library, formatting rules, and before-and-after rewrites of real fitness captions.
Discovery
A realistic view of what hashtags still do, the three-tier volume model, ready-made example sets by niche, local tags for gyms, and how to audit performance.
// 03
If the problem is that you post for two weeks and then stop, you need a supply of ideas and a plan you can film in batches.
Content strategy
Thirty ideas across five content pillars — teach, demonstrate, prove, personal, community — with the right format for each and notes on execution.
Reel ideas
Twenty-five Reel briefs with shot lists, on-camera lines, caption angles and filming times — grouped from ten-minute quick wins to repeatable weekly series.
Planning
A day-by-day 30-day calendar with formats, hooks and CTAs, the weekly theme structure behind it, and a four-hour batching workflow to film it all.

// About the library
Roughly half of what a fitness creator needs cannot come out of a text generator. Camera angles, retention diagnostics, gym filming etiquette, the sequencing of a month — that knowledge is procedural, and an app cannot hand it to you.
So we wrote it down properly instead. The standard we hold is that this library should be worth your time even if you never install the app. There is no email gate, no download requirement and no popup asking you to subscribe.
How we write and review it is set out in our editorial policy.
Yes. No email address, no signup, no download and no paywall. You can read every word on this site without giving us anything. The app is how FitContent makes money; the library is how we are useful to people who never install it.
The FitContent editorial team — people, working from coaching and content experience, then reviewed against our published editorial policy before anything goes live. We do not publish unreviewed generated text, which would be a strange thing for us to do given what we tell users about editing AI drafts.
We review each guide at least twice a year and whenever something material changes about how a platform works. Every guide shows its updated date at the top. If you find something out of date, tell us and we will fix it.
Please do — link to them freely, quote them with attribution, use them to train staff at your gym. We only ask that you link back rather than republishing the text wholesale.
